Buy Used Training Equipment

Anyone that works with horses knows that training them can become an expensive endeavor. Between the various medical costs, equipment, and a host of other expenses, training horses can be a major blow to the wallet. Thankfully, it doesn’t have to be. Much of the equipment used in training horse can be purchased second hand from vendors. There are just a few things you need to keep in mind as you shop.

The first is the condition of the equipment. If you were purchasing a used horse jump, you need to make sure it has not taking any heavy blows and that it is sturdy and stable. The last thing you want is for the jump to shatter the first time your horse doesn’t make it all the way over. The splinters from a broken horse jump can cause severe damage to your animals’ legs.

This risk is even higher when the jumps are made of vinyl. Wooden horse jumps are significantly safer due to the durability. Purchasing a second hand horse jump brings the cost down by a large amount, but you need to make sure all the necessary parts are included in the purchase. For example, some sellers will include the stands but not the poles, while others will do just the opposite. The ideal purchase will include not only the poles, but the stands with adjustable height for training your horse to make higher and higher jumps.

The price of used horse jumps ranges from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars. Take your time and research the seller and make sure the lot includes everything you need to give your horse the training it deserves. Although the purchase may be expensive, the results will be apparent at your next equestrian competition.
